When a Dangerous Goods Driver License is Required:
A Dangerous Goods Driver License is mandatory in the following scenarios:
- When dangerous goods are transported in receptacles with a capacity exceeding 500L
- When more than 500kg of dangerous goods is stored in a single receptacle
- For Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), when the total capacity of all IBCs exceeds 3000L or if any IBC is filled or emptied while on the vehicle
Units of Competency
The course includes the nationally recognized unit:
- TLILIC0001: Licence to transport dangerous goods by road
Entry Requirements
To enroll in this course, participants must:
- Provide two (2) forms of identification
- Supply their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number, you can create your USIÂ here
- Complete TP Training’s Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment
For applying for a Dangerous Goods License in NSW, participants must also:
- Be a resident of NSW
- Be certified as medically fit to drive by a General Practitioner (GP)
- Provide a certified driving history record
- Supply a passport-sized photograph and a copy of their current vehicle driver’s license
Course Delivery
This course uses plain English, videos, photos, and practical demonstrations to ensure all learners fully comprehend the required knowledge and skills. Attendance
- Duration: 2 days (16 hours)
- Participants must arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to complete enrolment paperwork.
- Late arrivals (15 minutes past the start time) will not be admitted into the course.
Training and Assessment
Training is delivered through a mix of classroom learning, group discussions, and practical demonstrations. Assessments are based on written questions, case studies, and practical evaluations to ensure participants meet the training qualification requirements.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by TP Training and a Dangerous Goods License photo card issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
